Simplify checkout with Alexa Skill and Amazon Pay

Amazon Pay, which allows customers to use Amazon information to make purchases on third-party sites, recommends that online retailers set up Alexa skills for their store. This can simplify checkout for customers by allowing them to use voice commands to place an order.

In September, we wrote that Amazon Pay unveiled Checkout v2, which will make checkout faster and more secure. Thanks to an improved checkout design, the company believes Checkout v2 could increase conversion rates by 35%,

Retailers using Alexa

Amazon Pay can be integrated with Alexa, Amazon's voice-activated assistant. Some retailers are already actively using Alexa. In 2017, the retailer launched an app created with Alexa Skill that allowed shoppers to add items to their cart or track an order with the phrase "where's my order?"

Retailers can use the Alexa skill set to create their own skill. With these skills, they can produce commands and appropriate reactions to them. For example, when customers say these commands out loud, Alexa triggers an action on the retailer's website.

'It will become easier to integrate.

Chris Zanuldin, head of connected commerce at Amazon Pay, said: "We've received a lot of questions about Amazon Pay, Alexa and voice control. We recently made it easier to integrate voice into a merchant's e-commerce offering with Alexa delivery notifications, which has further opened up the Amazon channel for sellers. This means that Amazon Pay sellers can use Alexa to let their customers know when their order has been delivered, at any time, in a natural, familiar and reliable way."

Retailers can also improve their skills in providing delivery notifications to customers. "Using these skills means that your online store will need less customer support because you will receive fewer customer service requests to check delivery status." Delivery notifications are currently available to retailers.

Turning on phrases by channel

To activate a skill, customers need to know Alexa skill phrases. Customers need to know these phrases and remember to use them. Educating customers by including these phrases on the website or social media through posting them in Instagram captions can help increase awareness and frequency of use.

A simple way to increase engagement and delight customers-focus on making their habitual purchases easier. For example, returning users to your website may see an opportunity to reorder their previously purchased items for regular use. You can add an Alexa-style banner phrase next to product cards to let users know about an alternative method of reordering.
