Universal Shop (OSS) vs. Imported Universal Shop (IOSS)

As of July 1, the OSS and IOSS schemes are available to both EU and non-EU businesses (e.g. companies from Eastern Europe). Here are some of the benefits of joining OSS or IOSS:

One Stop Shop (OSS) - only for European companies

- Only one registration in an EU member state is required

- Refunds are issued on a quarterly basis

- All eligible B2C shipments are reported via the OSS e-portal

- Reduces the financial cost of registration in each EU member state

- Enables broader global expansion for e-commerce businesses

Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) - for non-European companies only

- Only one registration in EU member state required

- Refunds are provided on a monthly basis

- All eligible B2C shipments are reported via the IOSS e-portal.

- Faster processing time for customs clearance

- Allows expanded European expansion for both EU and non-EU businesses

According to experts IOSS will be obligatory for all companies selling in Europe in 6 months.
